History of Quilling

Quilling is the craft of arranging, curling and bending small strips of paper to create beautiful and detailed artwork. It is believed that the art of paper quilling began over five hundred years ago when a feather quill was used to roll the strips of paper. The first people to start quilling didn't have the modern conveniences of precision machine cut paper strips, slotted quilling tools, circle templates, and other curling/shaping tools.

While the origins or quilling are somewhat unknown, history does show us that quilling became popular in Europe in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Later, quilling spread to the American colonies where its popularity continued to grow. However, based on the lack of historical samples, quilling seems to have lost its popularity during the late 1800's.

Today, quilling seems to have come to life again with the growing movement to preserve and display photographs. It is often used to accentuate framed pictures, wedding invitations and other precious moments of life. Quilling is also being used extensively in scrap booking and card making, where rolled and pinched shapes bring incredible dimension and beauty for others to enjoy.

Quilled Creations

Quilled Creations started out as just a hobby back in 2002 when Alli decided to stay home and care of our two beautiful daughters.  Alli spent her free time creating and selling custom quilled artwork.  Not long after that, her customers caught the quilling bug too and were very interested in purchasing quilling supplies and tools.

With our engineering backgrounds and our love of paper crafts, we set out to create the best quilling tools and supplies in the world.  Many years later, we are proud to say we continue to strive for that goal.  Our customers tell us that our quilling tools are the best on the market and our quilling kits bring refreshing, creative and fun designs to the world of quilling! We are constantly working to improve everything we do and make.

We are so excited to offer our Quilled Creations to you!  We look forward to hearing more from you on our quilling forum and Facebook. We would love to see some of your quilled creations! Our website is here for you to enjoy. We would love to hear from you and we encourage you to reach out to us and let us know what you are working on.
